What needed solving

A south-facing first-floor bedroom was becoming unusable on sunny afternoons. Strong glare made sleeping and working uncomfortable, and the room would overheat by mid-afternoon. Blackout blinds had been tried but blocked all natural light.

How we approached it

A neutral solar heat-control film was applied to the interior of the glass. The film reduces solar heat transmission and cuts glare significantly while preserving the view and keeping the room light. The glass type and sealed unit age were checked before film selection to avoid thermal stress risk.

The outcome

The room remains comfortably lit throughout the day. Afternoon glare is substantially reduced and the room no longer overheats by mid-afternoon. The view from the window is clear and the film is barely visible from inside.
